Premiere of “7 DÍAS EN LA HABANA” in Barcelona

The Federation of Associations of Cubans Residing in Spain (FACRE), in collaboration with Cubainformación TV and the Euskadi-Cuba Association, had the pleasure of inviting viewers to watch a film about one of the cities with the most charisma and personality in the world: Havana. After taking part in the San Sebastián Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival, 7 DAYS IN HAVANA (www.7daysinhavana.com), a feature film produced by Morena Films and made up of seven chapters directed by Benicio del Toro, Pablo Trapero, Julio Medem, Elia Suleiman, Gaspar Noé, Juan Carlos Tabío and Laurent Cantet, was released in Spain several months ago. These internationally renowned filmmakers, through their sensitivity, background and cinematic style, have managed to capture the energy and vitality that make this city unique. In an effort to bring Cuban culture to viewers, they organised several screenings between February and March in the main cities across the country, including Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville and Las Palmas. Before that, however, they organised a premiere in each city, and chose Casa Capell to host the Barcelona event, inviting industry professionals and distributors. The event was attended by members of the crew and included a screening of the film, followed by a cocktail accompanied by a Cuban son band. The attendees shared their thoughts on the film, whose appeal lies not so much in the story that links the seven chapters as in the individual vision of each director. The result reflects a musical, joyful and festive Cuba, but also a Cuba far removed from the tourist clichés to which we have become accustomed.
