BCN – MIAMI AND NY Presentation by Iberia & American Airlines & British Airways

A joint business agreement between American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia will offer new daily flights between Barcelona and New York and between Barcelona and Miami. From Wednesday 4 April, Iberia and American Airlines will increase the frequency of direct flights between Barcelona and Miami from the three weekly flights currently offered to five, and for the summer season, from 14 June, they will offer a daily flight. Iberia has selected Barcelona as a “winning city”, making it the fourth European city, along with Manchester, Paris and Milan, to be prioritised by the airline for promotional activities, fare and service improvements, among others. This was announced at a press conference at the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, where the director of El Prat Airport, Sonia Corrochano, highlighted “Barcelona’s appeal” for developing international routes and assured that the Catalan airport still has substantial growth capacity. The president of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Miquel Valls, also welcomed the increased frequency between Barcelona and Miami, arguing that the second-largest market for Catalan exports by air is the United States, and concluded that “the new frequencies are good news for increasing the competitiveness of Catalan companies”. In the evening, the three companies organised an internal celebration at Casa Capell, inviting all their employees and Partners to take part. Entry to the event, using a personalised boarding pass, allowed guests to check in for Miami or New York, and, as if it were real, once inside, typical fare from each city was served. A small show, featuring dancers and distinctive singers, entertained guests until the dividing curtain between the two cities disappeared. Simply bringing them together, connecting them.
